Bendith Y Maumau

Bendith Y Maumau is a Welsh word for fairies, translating literally to “The blessing of the Mothers.” I use this term to refer to the non-human intelligences that exist in the places these photographs depict. Wherever I happened to point my camera, I called on the energies that inhabited that place to follow the film back to the darkroom and be present during developing and printing. I let them guide my hand in the dark as I mixed and applied combinations of toners and developers. I did not take notes and made no attempts to replicate results so that each print is a multi-dimensional expression of a place on Earth.
